California Filtration Specialists’ and Whitson CM’s team of design build specialists chose FocalPoint because of its design flexibility and affordability. For the 1st and Beech residential tower in San Diego, CFS was tasked with designing a high flow biofiltration systems to treat stormwater from the rooftop of this building because there was no available space within the lot itself. The roof drains into a room on the 2nd floor of this tower were a cast-in-place concrete planter was constructed to house the FocalPoint system.
Design considerations included dissipation of rainwater flowing from an 8in pipe so that the media bed would not scour and lose the system design requirements. Additionally, an overflow system needed to be designed to manage rain events that produced much more intense rain fall volumes. Once again, our team was able to fulfill the local regulatory requirements and design constraints with FocalPoint.
